Pakistan releases 7 Iranian sailors
Seven Iranian sailors jailed in Karachi on a charge of illegal entry in Pakistani waters have been freed and repatriated, Iran’s Consulate General said.
According to Tasnim News Agency, the consulate general of Iran in Karachi said on Thursday night that the 7 sailors have been released from the prison of Karachi and have returned home with an Iran Air flight.
The Iranian sailors had been arrested on a charge of illegal entry into Pakistan’s maritime territories.
The diplomatic efforts by the Iranian consulate general has resulted in the release of more than 60 Iranian sailors from Pakistani jails in the current year, which ends tomorrow.
Iran and Pakistan signed an agreement on the extradition of criminals in May 2014.
