Senior commanders discuss building 'strong Iran' with Raeisi

The chiefs of Iran’s military and defense ministry as well as a number of other senior officials from the country’s defense sector have held a meeting with President-elect Seyyed Ebrahim Raeisi, days after his election win.

The meeting took place at Raeisi’s office in Tehran on Tuesday, with Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Baqeri and Defense Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami in attendance.

The duo were accompanied by other senior commanders from the country’s Army, Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), and Law Enforcement Force.

The officials congratulated Raeisi on the occasion of the Judiciary chief’s victory in the country’s 13th presidential election on Friday.

They emphasized the Armed Forces’ readiness to assist the new administration to be formed by Raeisi, enhance the Islamic Republic’s capabilities in various areas, and contribute to further strengthening of the country.

Raeisi, for his part, expressed hope that through the deployment of the Islamic Republic’s entire capabilities, the country gets to witness more favorable circumstances.

The IRGC’s Chief Commander Major General Hossein Salami was the first among Iran’s military officials to voice the elite force’s preparedness for cooperation with the president-elect.

Raeisi has already received other senior military and security figures too, who have similarly conveyed their felicitation and cooperation preparedness.
