Britain has paid a historic debt owed to Iran relating to military equipment, British Foreign Secretary, Liz Truss said in a statement on Wednesday.
“We have settled the IMS (International Military Services) debt, as we said we would,” Truss said in a statement, according to Reuters.
The unfulfilled military contract dates back to before the Islamic Revolution in Iran.
Britain had delayed the payment for many years citing problems faced because of the illegal sanctions imposed on Iran.
However, Tehran had insisted that the debt should be settled regardless of issues that exists between Iran and the West.
