Iran, Bangladesh agree to enhance political, economic ties
Iran and Bangladesh have agreed to make more efforts to improve political, economic and cultural relations given the deep binds between the two nations.
The second session of foreign office consultations between Iran and Bangladesh was held in Dhaka on Thursday as Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Ali Bagheri Kani and Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen led the Iranian and Bangladeshi delegations.
Participants in the meeting agreed to hold the session of the two countries' joint economic commission and strengthen parliamentary cooperation.
Commercial delegations of Iran and Bangladesh agreed to increase bilateral trade cooperation, particularly in the fields of industries and mines.
Bagheri Kani and Momen also exchanged views about the latest regional and international developments.
The Iranian diplomat said the issue of human rights has special significance in the Islamic Republic's foreign policy. “Those powers that have breached the rights of the oppressed Palestinian people for decades and have forcefully supported and continue to support the Zionist regime's acts of occupation and aggression lack the authentication and competency to comment on human rights.”
Israeli forces and settlers have been escalating attacks against Palestinian civilians in the West Bank and other occupied areas in an attempt to forcibly expel the Palestinians from their lands and make way for settlement expansion.
Over the course of 2022, Israeli troops have martyred more than 220 Palestinians, including over 50 children, in the West Bank and East al-Quds as well as in the besieged Gaza Strip. The United Nations says the number of Palestinians martyred by Israel in the West Bank this year is the highest it has been in 16 years.
