Omani FM in Tehran for talks on latest regional, global issues
Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi is in Tehran to hold talks with senior Iranian officials about the latest mutual, regional and international developments.
Albusaidi was welcomed by Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian upon his arrival on Monday.
The top Omani diplomat is scheduled to hold meetings with his Iranian counterpart and a number of officials during his trip to the country.
Speaking at his weekly press conference earlier in the day, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kan'ani described Oman as a friendly country and a partner of Iran in regional issues.
He added that Oman has always played a constructive role in international issues of common concern.
The Iranian spokesperson emphasized that Albusaidi's trip to Tehran would definitely provide the two countries with an opportunity to continue bilateral constructive negotiations.
Late in May, Oman's Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said paid an official visit to Tehran at the head of a high-ranking delegation at the invitation of Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi. During his stay, the two countries signed four documents to improve cooperation in various sectors.
Sultan Haitham’s visit to Tehran marks a significant milestone in relations between the two regional allies, opening new avenues for closer diplomatic cooperation.
Oman has long been an interlocutor in interactions between the West and Iran. The country has mediated the release of several foreign citizens and dual nationals.
