Iran under-20 freestyle wrestling team wins crown in Asian Championships
The Iranian national under-20 freestyle wrestling team has produced splendid performances at the Asian Wrestling Championships in Jordan, and picked up the trophy at the conclusion of the prestigious continental sports event.
The Iranian wrestlers finished first and won the team title, having secured three gold medals through Ali Abbas Rezaei-Aghouzgeleh, Mohammadmobin Gholamali Azimi and Amirali Gholamali Pouladi in the 70-kilogram, 92-kilogram and 125-kilogram weight categories respectively.
Ebrahim Mahdi Khari, Ebrahim Esmaeil Elahichouran, Hossein Abbas Mohammad Aghaei, Farzad Jafar Safijahanshahi and Amirhossein Rahmat Alizadehshahkolaei clinched silver medals in the 57-kilogram, 65-kilogram, 74-kilogram, 79-kilogram and 86-kilogram weight classes. The Iranians won the top honor with 191 points.
Athletes from India ranked second with 180 points. They were followed by Kazakhs who racked up 160 points.
Uzbekistan landed in the fourth position with 127 points.
The U-15 and U-20 Asian Wrestling Championships kicked off in Amman on July 12 and concluded on July 20.
Dozens of male and female freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestlers from various Asian countries, including the Islamic Republic of Iran, China, India, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan took part in the tournament.
