Iran dismisses 'baseless' claims of drone exports to Russia

Iran once again dismisses the "baseless" claim that it supplied Russia with weapons to be used in the war in Ukraine.

Tehran says it reserves the right to retaliate after the European Union imposed new sanctions against Iran in connection with the allegation.

"As it has been formally announced several times, the claim on the export of Iranian drones to Russia for the use against Ukraine is a baseless allegation," Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kan'ani said in a statement on Friday.

He said any attempt to link the war in Ukraine with cooperation between Iran and Russia is a move solely serving political objectives.

The Iranian spokesman also reiterated Tehran's implacable opposition to the war in Ukraine and underscored the importance of an immediate end to the conflict through diplomatic channels.

"Unfortunately, the West tries to keep adopting the ineffective and failed policy of imposing sanctions against the Iranian nation with political motives and by resorting to bogus and unproven claims," Kan'ani said.
