The speech of the Zionist regime premier, Benjamin Netanyahu, in the US Congress on July 25, caused many reactions on the Iranian media. Pars Today has selected some of the top ones here:

Pezeshkian's reaction to Netanyahu's applause in Congress

Hamshahri online website, quoting from the Israeli daily Haaretz, pointed to the continuous clapping during Netanyahu's speech and strong protests against him outside the Congress, and wrote, "These zealous applauses may cause the imagination that he has succeeded to draw the support of the Congress. But, the fact is that scores of democratic lawmakers were not intent even to hear his speech. Some of them, like Senator Bernie Sanders, called Netanyahu a criminal and a liar. Hamshahri online website also pointed to the tweet of Iran's president-elect on applauding Netanyahu in the US Congress.

The Iranian President-Elect, Masoud Pezeshkian, wrote on his X page, "Neither the murdering of innocent people and unsheltered children can be ignored nor the criminal can be expurgated with applauding while standing. The blood of the innocent will never let go of the oppressor. "And the wrongdoers will soon know at what goal they will end up".

Why is American workers' tax funneled for Israeli army?

Donya-ye Eghtesad daily wrote, "The workers of American Labor Union (ALU), in protest to Netanyahu's speech in the Congress, rallied in front of the White House. As a part of the national network, this union announced that it has joined the protesters, calling for ceasefire in Gaza, to prevent giving the workers' tax money to the Israeli army. In this rally, workers with black and white and bloody pictures of Netanyahu in their hands, called for preventing him from entering the Congress.

Netanyahu's speech, the worst speech of a foreign official in US Congress

Mehr news agency, in a report, touched upon the criticism of some of the American officials on Netanyahu's presence in the Congress. Mehr wrote, "Nancy Pelosi, former speaker of the American House of Representatives, slamming at the impasse of exchange of captives between the Zionist regime and Hamas, described Netanyahu's speech in the Congress "the worst speech of a foreign official". Pelosi published a tweet on X network writing that Netanyahu's presentation today in the Congress was the worst one of a foreign official who has been "honored" to deliver a speech in the US c Congress.

Netanyahu's insult at host country's people

Asr-e Iran website wrote, "Netanyahu, like a brazen guest, during his speech in the Congress, called hundreds of thousands of American citizens who have poured to the streets for the recent months to protest the Israeli genocide in Gaza as "stupid". He was the guest of the Congress while around one fifth of the lawmakers didn't attend the speech and some of the representatives and senators lashed out at the republican the Congress speaker's invitation of a war criminal to the US Congress.

Sidelines of Netanyahu's speech in US Congress

Tasnim news agency wrote on the issue, "Some of the families of Israeli captives, who had accompanied Netanyahu in his trip, showing the slogans on their shirts calling for "agreement now", were expelled from the hall and detained. Meanwhile, the absence of senior and prominent democratic representatives was conspicuous during the speech.

135 of 263 representatives and senators of the democratic party (112 representatives and 23 senators) banned Netanyahu's speech.

Nancy Pelosi, Adam Chef, James Clyburn, Bennie Thompson, Bernie Sanders and Kamela Harris, Vice-President and Senate Leader, were among those who didn't attend the speech.

Banning Netanyahu has seriously increased in the democratic party for the recent years and it has reached %50. This is while, in 2015 only 56 representatives and senators had banned his speech.

Erdogan's anger at US Congress

ISNA news agency wrote, "Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, criticized glorification of the Zionist premier, Benjamin Netanyahu in the US Congress, saying, 'The world is witness to applauding a genocidal murderer in the US Congress'." Erdogan, said that the Americans keep speaking to the world people on democracy and human rights, and called the Zionist regime premier "the Hitler of the time". He added, "The US lawmakers should be ashamed of the ceremony they held for him."

Pointing to the recent statistics on the British magazine "The Lancet" about the war casualties in Gaza, Erdogan continued, "When a butcher, who is responsible for the death of more than 50 thousand Palestinians, is not only welcomed but also applauded for his insulting speech, at that time we are facing the lack of "intellect" [in the US Congress]."
