Iran: Iran\'s legitimate right to self-defense totally unrelated to Gaza ceasefire

Pars Today - Iran's mission to the United Nations, in a statement emphasizing that Iran's national security and sovereignty have been violated in the Israeli regime's recent terrorist operation in Tehran, announced that Iran's legitimate right to self-defense is a matter totally unrelated to the Gaza ceasefire.

Iran's mission to the UN made the statement in a response to two media questions on Wednesday about the possibility of delaying Iran's response to Israel's crime in the assassination of Martyr Ismail Haniyeh, the head of Hamas' political bureau in Tehran, as well as the existing channels for conveying messages between Iran and the United States.

According to Pars Today, Iran's mission to the United Nations, in response to the question of whether Iran would postpone its response to Israel's crime in the assassination of Martyr Ismail Haniyeh, until this week's talks on a ceasefire in Gaza, noted:

"Our priority is to establish a lasting ceasefire in Gaza; any agreement accepted by Hamas will also be recognized by us. The Israeli regime has violated our national security and sovereignty through its recent act of terrorism. We have the legitimate right to self-defense—a matter totally unrelated to the Gaza ceasefire."

The statement expressed hope that Iran's response would take place at a time and in a manner that would not harm a potential ceasefire.
