Speech by Imam Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, on the first day of the Iranian New Year (1404)

Pars Today - The Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Khamenei, emphasized that Americans should know they will never achieve anything through threats against Iran, adding: They and others should know that if they commit any malicious act against the Iranian nation, they will receive severe blows.

Imam Khamenei made the remarks on the first day of the year 1404 in the Iranian solar calendar [March 21, 2025], during a meeting with thousands of people from various walks of life.

According to Pars Today, citing the official website of the Leader’s office, during the meeting, the Leader spoke about the Iranian tradition of welcoming the New Year with prayers, supplications, and gatherings in sacred places, viewing it as a reflection of the nation's spiritual outlook on Nowruz.

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution, explaining the effects of prayer and steadfastness in achieving great victories for the front of righthood throughout history, described the past year as a year of patience, resilience, and the manifestation of the spiritual strength of the Iranian people. Wishing the entire nation a blessed year, the Leader outlined the responsibilities of the people and the government in realizing the year’s slogan, "Investment for Production," and improving economic and living conditions.

Ayatollah Khamenei also pointed to the widespread global disgust at the brutal Zionist regime’s crimes, calling the language of threats against the great Iranian nation futile and doomed to failure. The Leader added: "Nations and resistance centers, including the nations of Palestine, Lebanon, and Yemen, are standing against the corrupt Zionist regime with inner faith-driven motivation."

Referring to the loss of prominent Iranian and Lebanese figures in last year’s events, the Leader described the ultimate outcome of enduring these bitter incidents, combined with "steadfastness and seeking divine assistance," as the defeat of enemies, particularly the corrupt and malicious Zionist regime. He stressed: "In the challenging year of 1403, the spiritual strength, patience, courage, and valor of the nation shone brilliantly."

In another part of his speech, Ayatollah Khamenei called the interpretation by American and European politicians of resistance centers as Iran’s proxies a grave mistake and an insult to these groups and stated: "What does 'proxy' mean? The Yemeni nation and regional resistance centers have their own internal motivations for standing against the Zionists. The Islamic Republic of Iran has no need for proxies and our stance and theirs are clear."

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution described steadfastness and resistance against the Zionist regime’s malice and oppression as deeply rooted in the region, noting: "At the outset of Palestine’s occupation, Yemen was among the countries that stood against this injustice. The ruler of Yemen at the time participated in an international gathering to oppose the occupation of Palestine."

Pointing to the growing protests against the ruthless Zionist regime’s crimes among non-Muslim nations, as well as public and student demonstrations in the U.S. and European countries, the Leader stated: Western statesmen refuse to see these realities and understand the positions of their own nations. Instead, they resort to actions such as cutting university funding when students protest in support of Palestine—an action that, of course, is yet another reflection of their claims regarding the free flow of information, liberalism, and human rights.

The Leader emphasized the nations’ opposition to the Zionist regime’s atrocities and their determination to resist in every possible way and added that the Islamic Republic of Iran has also firmly stood against these atrocities and has consistently and explicitly stated its position, supporting Palestinian and Lebanese fighters defending their homeland.

In response to threats from Iran’s ill-wishers, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution once again reiterated: "We have never initiated conflict or confrontation with anyone, but if someone maliciously starts one, they should know they will receive harsh blows."
