Pars Today – The spokesperson for Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has called on Germany to provide transparency regarding Saddam’s chemical weapons.
On Tuesday evening, Esmaeil Baghaei, the spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry wrote on his X social media account, marking the anniversary of the entry into force of the Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production, Stockpiling and Use of Chemical Weapons: April 29 marks the anniversary of the Chemical Weapons Convention’s entry into force.
According to Pars Today, Baghaei added: April 29 marks the anniversary of the entry into force of the Chemical Weapons Convention. This day is a symbol for the Iranian nation of global consensus aimed at preventing the repetition of crimes committed during the imposed war by the Ba'ath regime of Iraq against Iranian military personnel and civilians using chemical weapons.
He emphasized: “Revealing the truth” is a prerequisite for “achieving justice.” Shedding light on the role of suppliers of materials and technologies used in the development and production of Saddam’s chemical weapons remains a serious issue and is on the agenda of Iran's Foreign Ministry.
Baghaei stressed: Iran's demand from Germany to establish a mechanism to uncover the truth and raise public awareness about this country’s role in the production of Iraq’s chemical weapons aligns with this objective.
