Karrar: Iran’s advanced battle tank
Pars Today – Karrar is an Iranian main battle tank that was unveiled on March 12, 2017.
It stands as one of Iran’s most significant and well-known indigenous military vehicles, designed and built by the country’s defense industries.
According to Pars Today, the Karrar tank, as a main battle tank, has been developed with the aim of enhancing the combat capabilities of Iran’s ground forces and reducing reliance on foreign tanks.

The Karrar tank weighs approximately 51 tons and is equipped with advanced composite armor that provides substantial protection against armor-piercing rounds, anti-tank missiles, and explosive fragments. It is armed with a 125 mm cannon capable of firing various types of ammunition, including armor-piercing and cluster shells, offering high destructive power against both armored and unarmored targets.

The Karrar is also equipped with an advanced fire control system that, with the help of night vision cameras, a laser rangefinder, and automated targeting adjustment systems, enables accurate firing even under difficult conditions. Its powerful engine allows it to travel at speeds of up to 70 kilometers per hour on roads and provides good maneuverability on rough terrain.

One of the advantages of the Karrar tank is its ability to counter modern threats and integrate with digital command and control systems, enabling better coordination in joint operations. The tank’s indigenous design reflects the progress of Iran’s defense industry in developing heavy armored equipment and enhancing the army’s combat capabilities.
Overall, the Karrar tank stands as a symbol of Iran’s self-sufficiency in ground military equipment and plays a significant role in strengthening the defensive capabilities of the country’s ground forces.
