Pars Today – Iran’s Foreign Minister warned that if the country’s oil and energy infrastructure is attacked, a decisive retaliation will follow.

According to Pars Today, citing IRIB News Agency, Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister, said in an interview with MS NOW on Sunday, in response to a question about a recent U.S. military action against Khark Island:

The U.S. President had reportedly stated: “For humanitarian reasons and out of consideration, I have decided not to destroy all oil infrastructure on the island. However, if Iran or any other party takes action to disrupt the free and safe passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz, I will immediately reconsider this decision.”

Araghchi responded: “I think our armed forces have already made it clear that if our oil and energy infrastructure is targeted, they will certainly retaliate. Any energy infrastructure in the region that belongs to or involves American companies will be targeted. Therefore, our reaction is fully clear.”

Iran’s Foreign Minister added that last night, Khark Island and Abu Musa Island were targeted with artillery rocket systems, specifically the short-range “HIMARS” system, and that these attacks were launched from the territory of neighboring countries. He emphasized that using the territory of neighboring states to fire rockets at Iran is completely unacceptable.

When asked which neighbors were involved, Araghchi stated that Iranian forces monitored the attacks and determined that the rockets were fired from two locations in the United Arab Emirates: one in Ras Al Khaimah and another very close to the city of Dubai.

He added: “It is extremely dangerous to use densely populated areas to launch rockets against us. We will certainly respond, but we will try to act very carefully to ensure that no civilian areas are targeted.”
