Pars Today- Iran’s President, referring to US actions against Iran, said that attacking and imposing sanctions on Iran while claiming to seek negotiations is an act of deception.
According to Pars Today, citing IRIB, Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian said on Monday, during a meeting with Armenian Foreign Minister and Minister of International Trade Ararat Mirzoyan, that given the very good and friendly relations between the two countries, he hoped these ties would be further expanded in all areas.
Referring to the Armenian community’s long-standing and positive record in Iran, the Iranian president said Armenians in Iran have always been known as respectable and honest people, adding that this positive record is a valuable asset in relations between the two nations.
In another part of his remarks, Pezeshkian, referring to recent developments in the region and the current sensitive circumstances, said: “Our problem with the United States is that every time we come to the negotiating table, war is immediately imposed on us. So far, they have attacked us three times after talks, and this shows that they are not seeking dialogue; rather, their goal is to overthrow the Islamic Republic of Iran.”
He added: “The Islamic Republic of Iran has repeatedly proven its sincerity regarding its nuclear activities, and our country has been subject to the most extensive monitoring by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in the world. Nevertheless, the United States has put Iran under pressure based on false claims.”
The Iranian president continued: “In my speech at the United Nations, I announced that we are ready for dialogue and verification regarding our nuclear activities. But the problem is that every time inspectors have come to Iran, our nuclear facilities and scientists have been identified, and afterward these facilities have been bombed and our scientists assassinated. By what logic should our scientific and university centers be bombed? This is despite the fact that under international law and regulations, they have no right to attack nuclear facilities under the supervision of the IAEA.”
Pezeshkian described the US criminal actions in attacking Iran and then claiming to seek negotiations as an example of their deception, stressing: “They do not answer for what crime they martyred 168 innocent children in Minab, and they have no shame while continuing to claim to uphold human rights. A world that claims to be civilized but has become barbaric in practice is the problem we face today.”
The Iranian president, stressing that none of their actions or conduct toward Iran are in accordance with international law, added: “Negotiating with an enemy that carries out assassinations, imposes sanctions, exerts pressure and issues threats every day, and breaks its commitments, makes no sense, and our people will not accept such an approach either.”
Armenia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, for his part, stressed during the meeting that friendship and relations between Iran and Armenia are growing stronger day by day, saying: “Cooperation between the two countries is also proceeding well on the international stage, and despite the sanctions, we are vigorously pursuing our engagement with Iran.”
He also stressed Armenia’s peaceful approach, saying: “Armenia is a peace-loving country and is seeking to achieve peace; a path that is, of course, not an easy one.”
The Armenian minister concluded by saying: “We are making efforts to further expand cooperation between the two countries within the framework of the path that has been outlined.”
