Baghaei: Seizure of ships carrying Iranian oil is piracy

Pars Today – The spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs reacted to the admission by U.S. judicial authorities that they had issued orders to seize ships carrying Iranian oil.
According to Pars Today, Esmaeil Baghaei, spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, responded on social media to the acknowledgment by U.S. judicial officials regarding orders to detain vessels transporting Iranian oil and confiscate their cargo, writing: “This is the outright legalization of piracy and armed robbery on the high seas. Welcome to the return of the pirates.”
Baghaei added: “Only now, they operate with government-issued warrants, sail under official flags, and call their plunder 'law enforcement.”
The spokesperson for Iran’s diplomatic apparatus stressed: “The United States must be held fully accountable for this brazenly lawless behavior, which strikes at the heart of international law & international free trade, and threatens the basic principles of maritime security.”
