Iranian men on top of world weightlifting stage
Pars Today – Iran’s team claimed first place at the 2026 World Youth Weightlifting Championships with 6 gold medals, 7 silvers, and 1 bronze.
According to Pars Today, at the conclusion of the 2026 World Youth Weightlifting Championships held in Ismailia, Egypt, the Iranian team secured the championship title with a total of 520 points, winning 6 gold medals, 7 silver medals, and 1 bronze medal. Egypt finished second with 427 points, while Venezuela placed third with 380 points.
Today, in the 110 kg category, Iran’s Abolfazl Zare delivered a dominant performance and won all three gold medals in his division.
Farhad Gholizadeh, Iran’s other representative in this weight class, also performed impressively and finished as world runner-up.
In the super heavyweight category (+110 kg), Hamidreza Mohammadi also put on a commanding display and captured all three world gold medals in the division.
In the same category, Taha Nemati-Moghadam, another Iranian athlete, delivered a notable performance and became runner-up.
Earlier in the competition, Hamidreza Zarei won a silver medal in the clean and jerk event and a bronze medal overall in the 94 kg weight category.
