Leader: Population growth is directly linked to Islamic Iran's power

Pars Today – Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, referred to the issue of population growth and its connection to the strength and civilization of Islamic Iran in response to a letter of sympathy and condolences from a group of grassroots activists working in the field of population issues.

According to Pars Today, citing Mehr News Agency, Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, in his response to the letter of sympathy and condolences from a group of grassroots population activists on the occasion of the martyrdom of the great Leader of the Islamic Revolution, addressed the issue of population growth and its relationship with the power and civilization of Islamic Iran. He also emphasized the increasing efforts of grassroots activists in the field of population issues and the promotion of a childbearing culture.

The text of the Leader’s response, released on the occasion of National Population Day, is as follows:

In the Name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Salam, and thank you for the kindness and sense of responsibility expressed by concerned activists in the field of population growth: Among the most valuable achievements of the Third Sacred Defense and the immense blessing of the nation's unparalleled bi’tha (rising up to be active on the scene), which has become evident to everyone, is the emergence of Iran at the level of a major, influential power. Undoubtedly, sustaining this position and advancing toward an even more desirable level in this is directly related to the issue of population. Sometimes the necessity of population growth is viewed as something needed to compensate for shortcomings that are a result of certain past policies. But more than that, by earnestly pursuing the correct, necessary policy of population growth, the great Iranian nation will be able to play a major role and experience strategic leaps in the future, taking long strides toward building the new Islamic-Iranian civilization. In this light, the ever-increasing efforts of activists in the field of population and the promotion of a culture that encourages childbearing can have a significant impact on bringing about this bright future.

Furthermore, this issue was one of the most important concerns of our illustrious, martyred Leader (may God elevate his noble rank). He emphasized this matter in numerous meetings, exchanges, and in both public and private gatherings. It continues to be regarded as one of the most critical strategic issues of the Islamic Republic. It is hoped that your sincere efforts, undertaken with the backing of the benevolent prayers of our Master [Imam Mahdi (aj)], will bring fruitful results, God willing.
