Pars Today – The Deputy for Social and Cultural Affairs of Tehran Municipality stated that funeral processions for the martyred Leader of the Revolution will definitely be held in the three cities of Tehran, Qom, and Mashhad, adding that preparations are being made in the capital for a crowd of more than 15 to 20 million people.

According to Pars Today, citing IRNA, Mohammad Amin Tavakkolizadeh, Deputy for Social and Cultural Affairs of Tehran Municipality, said on Tuesday that, in accordance with the Martyr Imam’s will and the recommendations of those close to him, his burial place will be at the holy shrine of Imam Reza (peace be upon him) in Mashhad, where he will be laid to rest.

The Deputy for Social and Cultural Affairs of Tehran Municipality announced that plans are being made for three days of farewell ceremonies and a 24-hour funeral procession for the Martyr Imam. He stated that the venue for the main ceremony is currently being finalized, with a decision to be made between Tehran’s Mosalla and the Mausoleum of Imam Khomeini.

He also noted that the ceremonies will likely take place at the end of Dhu al-Hijjah and the beginning of Muharram.

He explained that the funeral procession in Tehran is expected to last at least 24 hours. Following the ceremonies in the capital, the body will be transferred to the city of Qom for a similar procession and, finally, to the holy city of Mashhad.

Referring to Mashhad’s geographical location, he added that the city is expected to receive a massive influx of foreign pilgrims, particularly from Pakistan, Afghanistan, India, Bangladesh, and the Kashmir region. In this regard, the Astan Quds Razavi organization and the IRGC of Khorasan Razavi Province have prepared special arrangements to host pilgrims and conduct the burial ceremonies.

The Deputy for Social and Cultural Affairs of Tehran Municipality further stated that the funeral of the Martyr Leader would be unlike any other, saying: “We are bidding farewell to the world’s foremost leader of resistance against global arrogance, the leading commander in the struggle against the United States and Israel, a distinguished Marja' (source of emulation), and the Leader of the Islamic Revolution.”
