Ghalibaf: Baku summit an opportunity to clarify post-Ramadan war developments

Pars Today – Mohammad Baqer Ghalibaf, Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly (parliament) of Iran, has arrived in Baku, the capital of the Republic of Azerbaijan, at the head of a parliamentary delegation to participate in the 20th session of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC).

According to a report by Pars Today citing IRNA, Mohammad Baqer Ghalibaf, before leaving Tehran, explained the objectives of his visit to Baku, saying: "This is a very good opportunity for Iran to be present among the heads of parliaments and delegations, and to raise and clarify matters regarding the events that took place over the past year and the two major wars, especially the Ramadan War and its regional implications, for the heads of parliaments and delegations."

Iranian Parliament Speaker added: "After the Ramadan War, the regional situation has changed and must be viewed from a different perspective."

Ghalibaf said: "In the past, some countries believed that forces and countries that entered the region from thousands of kilometers away could establish security in the region, but after the Ramadan War, it became clear that these forces cannot establish security and are themselves factors of insecurity, and we must take advantage of this new perspective in the region."

The Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran emphasized: "During this visit, bilateral cooperation talks with the Republic of Azerbaijan will also be held."

During the trip, Ghalibaf will attend the opening ceremony and specialized meetings of the 20th PUIC session and will deliver a speech before the heads of parliaments and parliamentary delegations of the OIC member states. On the sidelines of the session, he will meet and hold talks with a number of parliamentary delegations and officials from Islamic countries.

The 20th session of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States is being hosted by the Republic of Azerbaijan under the slogan "Strengthening Sustainable and Inclusive Economic Development in OIC Member States through Parliamentary Cooperation" in Baku.
