Pars Today – The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy announced early Sunday in a statement that the Strait of Hormuz has been closed until further notice and until the end of U.S. interventions, adding that no vessels are permitted to transit through the waterway.
According to Pars Today, citing IRIB News Agency, the full statement by the IRGC Navy said:
“In our previous statement, we had warned that foreign interference and the imposition of illegal shipping routes in the Strait of Hormuz would lead to a decisive response from Iran and disrupt the increasing flow of maritime traffic through the strait.
Hours ago, these warnings were ignored, and with the provocation of foreign parties, several vessels attempted to travel along unauthorized routes and disregarded our warnings and instructions to correct their course and follow approved routes.
As a result, one of the vessels, which had endangered maritime security by turning off its systems, was struck by warning fire and brought to a stop.”
Following this incident, the statement said:
“First, due to the insecurity caused by the illegal interference of foreign parties, the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed until further notice and until the end of U.S. interventions in the region, and no vessel will be permitted to transit through it.
Second, if the aggressor enemy makes any mistake and launches a new act of aggression against Iran under the pretext of this incident — which it itself caused — it will face a severe response, and new enemy bases in the region will be targeted.
The consequences of such interference will be the responsibility of the American-Zionist enemy and the countries that have made their territory available for the enemy’s bases to carry out these threats.”
In the same context, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) issued a statement announcing that a second non-compliant vessel had been struck in the Strait of Hormuz. It also claimed that the fighter aircraft maintenance center and the command-and-control center of a U.S. base had been destroyed.
The IRGC public relations office stated:
“In response to the continued aggression by the child-killing U.S. military against the coastal bases of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s armed forces, in addition to striking and stopping a second non-compliant vessel in the Strait of Hormuz, the strategic U.S. Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar was targeted with ballistic missiles during the second phase of the retaliatory operation. The fighter aircraft repair and maintenance center and the command center of this base were destroyed.”
