Pars Today – Iran’s foreign minister said during a telephone conversation with his Iraqi counterpart that the valuable ties between Tehran and Baghdad should not be affected by certain personal and unofficial remarks.

According to Pars Today, citing Mehr News Agency, Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s foreign minister, and Fuad Hussein, Iraq’s foreign minister, spoke by phone on Saturday evening about the latest regional developments following the U.S. military attack on Iran, Washington’s repeated violations of the Islamabad memorandum of understanding, and Iran’s response to those actions.

During the conversation, Araghchi described relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Iraq as deep-rooted, strategic, and based on profound historical, cultural, and religious bonds, as well as the shared interests of the two nations.

He stressed: “These valuable relations should not be influenced by certain personal and unofficial statements. Iran emphasizes mutual respect, good-neighborly relations, and the further expansion of ties with the government and people of Iraq.”

The two sides also reviewed the dimensions of the current developments and their implications for regional security and stability. They underscored the importance of continuing bilateral consultations and coordination in order to prevent further escalation and preserve regional peace and security.
