Baghaei: Iran’s power owed to people, armed forces' resistance

Pars Today- Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei, stressing that Iran has never been this powerful in the contemporary era, said Iran’s strength is owed to the resistance of its people and the power of its armed forces.

According to Pars Today, citing IRIB, Baghaei made the remarks on Friday night during a special news interview on Iranian television, referring to the US-imposed war against Iran. He said Iran’s enemies believed they could bring the country to collapse within three to four days or, at most, two weeks, but the Iranian people foiled their plans through unity and resistance.

Stressing the power of Iran’s armed forces, he said: “The Strait of Hormuz is under the full control of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Armed Forces, and as a coastal state, Iran is entitled under international law to take the necessary measures to safeguard its national interests and security. The insecurity in the Strait of Hormuz is the result of illegal US actions, and the Islamic Republic of Iran is in no way responsible for this situation.”

He added: Iran’s powerful armed forces have always responded to every blow with an even stronger one, and the battlefield has done and continues to do its part. Diplomacy, backed by the power demonstrated on the battlefield, has also led regional countries to conclude that the solution lies in shared security, dialogue and cooperation without the presence of foreign powers.

Referring to the fact that Iran is in a state of war, Baghaei added: “As long as the enemy’s economic sanctions and naval blockade continue, the economic war continues, and this amounts to war. We did not start this war, and everything we do is defensive.”

He concluded by pointing to Iran’s active participation in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and BRICS summits, stressing that Iran, relying on its strength on the battlefield and popular support, is also working through diplomacy to safeguard its national interests and establish lasting regional security.
