Nagoya 2026: Iran wins seven gold, silver medals on day 5

Pars Today- On the fifth day of the Asian Games, Iran’s delegation has so far won four medals in wushu and three medals in women’s rowing.

According to Pars Today, citing IRIB, the 20th edition of the Asian Games entered its fifth day today, Thursday, as athletes continued competing in various disciplines.

Fatemeh Mojallal was Iran’s first medalist on day 5, winning gold in the women’s lightweight single sculls. She finished first with a time of 7:24.57, securing the first-ever Asian Games gold medal for Iranian women’s rowing.

In the women’s lightweight double sculls final, Iran’s team of Zeinab Norouzi and Kimia Zarei also finished first with a time of 6:53.93, winning the gold medal at the Asian Games.

In the women’s four sculls final, Iran’s team of Mahsa Javer, Soha Fakhri, Saghi Maleki and Hengameh Kamyab finished second with a time of 6:27.24 to claim the silver medal. This was Iran’s third medal in women’s rowing at the Asian Games.

In the wushu finals, Sogand Sinakei was the first Iranian representative to compete. She had reached the final of the women’s under-52kg division after defeating Aparna of India, Ngo Thi Phuong of Vietnam and Cheng of Hong Kong. In the final, she lost to China’s Di Wu in two rounds despite a strong effort, settling for the silver medal.

Soheil Mousavi, the last member of Iran’s national wushu team to compete in the Asian Games finals, put in another powerful performance against Kazakhstan’s Abdrashid Abdullayev and won the gold medal.

In the final of the men’s under-70kg sanda competition, Erfan Mohrami lost to China’s Ma Shu, securing Iran’s third silver medal in wushu.

Shoja Panahi also defeated China’s Wang Chengjin in the final bout of the men’s under-65kg division to claim the silver medal.
