Leader's top aide stresses political solution to Syria crisis

The Leader's top aide Ali Akbar Velayati in a meeting with Russian President's Special Envoy on Syria Alexander Lavrentiev in Tehran on Sunday underlined the need for reaching a political solution to the Syrian crisis.

During the meeting in the Iranian capital today, Velayati and Lavrentiev discussed the ongoing developments in Syria, specially the situation of the city of Aleppo.

The two sides underlined the need for confronting the terrorist groups in Syria.

"Israel and their regional puppets had planned to oust the Syrian president and disintegrate the country in favor of Tel Aviv regime," Velayati said referring to (the usurper Zionist regime of) Israel's support for the terrorist groups in Syria.

Leader's top aide, meantime, pointed to Iran-Russia relations, and said, "Tehran and Moscow enjoy unique strategic ties."
