Reuters poll: Americans see war with Iran as source of instability

Pars Today – A new Reuters poll indicates growing concern among Americans over the consequences of the war with Iran and rising fuel prices.

According to Pars Today, citing Tasnim News Agency, the latest Reuters/Ipsos poll shows that a significant share of Americans believe the continuation of the U.S. war with Iran will lead to greater instability in West Asia and are concerned about the economic and political consequences of the conflict.

The poll, conducted over six days amid the fifth month of the U.S. war with Iran, found that 50 percent of respondents expect U.S. military action against Iran to make West Asia more unstable over the next year. By contrast, only 17 percent believe the war will lead to greater stability in the region. Another 16 percent said they expect no significant change, while 17 percent either declined to answer or said they did not know.

The poll also showed that Americans are pessimistic about the war’s economic consequences.

The findings could pose a political challenge for Donald Trump and the Republican Party, particularly as the country approaches the 2026 congressional midterm elections.

According to Reuters, the war, which began in late February with U.S. and Israeli involvement against Iran, has so far cost American taxpayers at least $37.5 billion and resulted in the deaths of 18 U.S. service members.

Meanwhile, some experts believe that even if the conflict ends quickly, its economic consequences will persist, although there are differing views on the war’s ultimate impact on regional stability.
