U.S. lawmaker: Missile “imbalance” between U.S. and Iran clearly evident

Pars Today – A U.S. lawmaker, reacting to the depletion of the country’s interceptor missile stocks, said the situation had exposed a clear “imbalance” in the U.S. position vis-à-vis Iran.

According to Pars Today, citing IRIB News, Democratic Representative Ted Lieu wrote on X on Thursday night: “The Pentagon always conducts war games. How could it fail to realize that it was running out of ammunition?”

The California congressman added, “Before the war, the United States had about 452 THAAD systems and 2,700 Patriot missiles, while Iran had around 3,000 ballistic missiles and more than 50,000 drones. The ‘imbalance’ was obvious.”

The remarks came as CNN reported that the U.S. military had used approximately 80 percent of its key interceptor missiles during the war against Iran.

According to two informed sources, the U.S. military had used nearly four-fifths of its THAAD interceptor inventory and almost half of its Patriot interceptors since the beginning of the war.

According to an informed official, the U.S. military had also used “nearly all” of its long-range, precision-guided and surface-to-air weapons during the conflict.

Reuters likewise reported that the United States had used almost all of its long-range precision missiles during its attacks against Iran.
