Iran, Pakistan discuss terrorism, regional security
Iranian and Pakistani parliament speakers conferred on efforts to improve regional security and strengthen fight against terrorism.
"Pakistan is in favor of a secure and successful Iran and we know that Iran is also of the same view," Speaker of Pakistan's National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said during a joint press conference with his Iranian counterpart Ali Larijani in Tehran on Saturday.
"We also held talks on the issue of confronting terrorism," he said, adding that the two countries' armed forces should have good relations.
Larijani, for his part, underlined the necessity for the implementation of mutual agreements between Tehran and Islamabad.
The Iranian speaker said that he and his Pakistani colleague also "talked about regional security mechanisms".
"Given the sensitive issues related to terrorism, Iran and Pakistan, as important and influential countries, play highly important roles in establishing tranquility in the region," he stressed.
