Swedish Foreign Minister Margot Wallström underlined the need for the Western countries to remain committed to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) reached in Vienna in July 2015.

"Europe should be united and determined to implement the JCPOA reached between Tehran and the P5+1 group of countries (the US, China, Russia, France, Britain and Germany)," Wallström said in a meeting with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht Ravanchi in Stockholm on Wednesday.

The Swedish foreign minister, meantime, underlined the importance of cooperation and collaborations between the two countries in various sectors.

The Iranian deputy foreign minister, for his part, underlined that the post-JCPOA era offered an excellent opportunity for development of cooperation in various fields, and said, "Common efforts will lead to the implementation of documents and agreements which were signed during the recent visit of the Swedish prime minister to Iran."

Takht Ravanchi underlined the need to hold Joint Iran-Sweden Economic Commission, and said, "The two countries need to alleviate the remaining hurdles in the way of boosting banking cooperation between the two countries."

The Iranian deputy foreign minister who has travelled to Stockholm at the invitation of Swedish Deputy Foreign Minister Annika Söder, also met with Swedish Deputy Minister for EU Affairs and Trade Oscar Stenström.

In early February, Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven, heading a large economic delegation, arrived in Tehran.

Tehran and Stockholm have signed several agreements to broaden their mutual cooperation in different areas.
