Ayatollah Shahroudi decries inaction on plight of Myanmar Muslims
Chairman of Iran's Expediency Council condemned the heinous crimes against Muslim people in Myanmar, and took a swipe at the ‘hypocritical’ advocates of human rights for remaining silent on the brutal massacre of Myanmarese Muslims.
In a message released on Thursday, Ayatollah Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi said the daily news of massacre of Muslim people in Myanmar and the deafening silence of the self-proclaimed advocates of human rights and freedom of speech have “embarrassed humanity.”
He also described such muted response to the systematic persecution of Muslim Rohingya in Myanmar as another testimony that the “global arrogance’s hypocritical claim about defending human rights and freedom” is yet another ploy to interfere in the political and cultural affairs of the other countries in order to “ensure the security of the bloodthirsty and child-murdering regime of Israel.”
Ayatollah Shahroudi also called on the Islamic governments to join hands and make serious efforts to stop the inhumane crimes against the Muslim people of Myanmar.
