Iranian women's brilliance in West Asian athletics; winning 3 gold, 2 silver medals on the first day
Pars Today - Iranian women athletes had a successful first day at the West Asia Athletics Championship, winning 3 gold and 2 silver medals.
In the women's shot put event, Elham Hashemi, representing the Islamic Republic of Iran, won the gold medal with a record of 13.77 meters, while Zahra Omidvar, another Iranian representative, took the silver medal with a record of 13.14 meters.
In the pole vault event, Iranian representatives Mahsa Mirzatabibi and Samira Kordali also took the top two spots, winning the gold and silver medals in this section.
Mirzatabibi, with a jump of 3.80 meters, and Samira Kordali, with a mark of 3.40 meters, respectively achieved the titles of champion and runner-up.
Parisa Arab, the Iranian record holder in the 10,000-meter run, also crossed the finish line first, winning the championship title with a time of 36 minutes and 47 seconds.
The West Asia Athletics Championship, hosted by Iraq, began on Wednesday, May 29th. The Iranian team is participating in the competition with 40 athletes.
