We should heed the poor / Imam Khomeini and the deprived
Pars Today- In view of Imam Khomeini (God's mercy upon him), paying attention to the rights of low classes means paying attention to the rights of God. According to the Imam, Islam says that we must look after the poor.
On the occasion of the 35th anniversary of Imam Khomeini's passing away, we are going to have a short look at the importance of justice and heeding the deprived in view of Imam Khomeini.
Here are excerpts of Emad Afroogh (1957-2023), famous Iranian researcher's words on the issue.
Imam Khomeini's words and statements show that his look at justice was originated in Imam Ali's look.
Imam Ali's look is a combination of equality and meritocracy. He [on one hand] deems an authenticity for society, but, on the other hand, he believes that an individual's effort shouldn't be considered for another one.
When we compare Imam Khomeini's look with those of the capitalist and communist systems, definitely, Imam Khomeini (God's mercy upon him) rejects the capitalist system and opposes the socialist policies, too, for two reasons: first, it had turned into governmental capitalism and second, it was against private ownership. Imam Khomeini's opposition to the capitalist system is not due to the private ownership, but it is because of authenticity of capital which dominates everything.
Imam Khomeini's look at the deprived is not a mere political and economic view. It is rather a more fundamental look. His look is a religious look. In view of the Imam, heeding the rights of the low class is tantamount to heeding the rights of God. He says, "Islam has said that we should look at the poor. We should look at construction for the deprived." According to the Imam, Islam began from the deprived.
Imam Khomeini says that different classes shouldn't wrong the low classes. The rights of the poor and the destitute should be fulfilled. In view of Imam Khomeini, the nation should demand justice and stand against wronging the deprived.
Imam Khomeini (God's mercy upon him) says that eradication of deprivation is our custom. In his view, if a person really wants to struggle against the American oppression, he should embark on eradication of poverty.
