  • Pezeshkian or Jalili/ Which one will Iranian people elect as president?

Pars Today- With the end of the vote counting of the presidential election in Iran, Masood Pezeshkian and Saeed Jalili will head for a runoff election on July 5.

The 14th presidential election was held in Iran on June 28. From the total 58,640 polling stations across the country, 24,535,185 votes were cast with following results for each of the candidates:

  1. Masood Pezeshkian: 10,415,991 votes
  2. Saeed Jalili: 9,471,298 votes
  3. Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf: 3,383,340 votes
  4. Mostafa Poormohammadi: 206,397 votes.

Thus, none of the candidates of the Iranian presidential election won %50 + 1 of the votes; hence, Pezeshkian and Jalili will compete in the runoff on Friday July 5.

Subspecialist of heart surgery, chancellor of Tabriz Medical Sciences University, deputy of Iran's health ministry, health minister, first vice-speaker of the Iranian Majlis (parliament) in one term, representative of Tabriz constituency in the 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th terms of the parliament.

Jalili's scientific and professional background

PhD of political sciences, deputy of Europe-America department of Iran's foreign ministry, presidential advisor, member of the strategic council of Basij organization, secretary of Supreme National Security Council, head of the nuclear negotiating team, member of the Expediency Council, member of the strategic council of foreign relations
