Three rockets hit area near Baghdad Airport
Three Katyusha rockets have reportedly struck the perimeter of Baghdad International Airport, but caused no casualties.
ccording to Press TV, one of the rockets has landed in the airport garage on Sunday night, damaging four civilian vehicles, a report by Iraq's state news agency (INA) said, citing a military statement.
Last week, in three separate incidents several rockets landed either near the airport or inside Baghdad's heavily fortified Green Zone, which houses government buildings and foreign missions. Those attacks also caused no casualties.
Last month, at least four Katyusha rockets were fired at the US embassy in Green Zone, one of which landed in an area where American troops are stationed at the diplomatic mission.
Also on July 5, a child was injured in a similar incident where a rocket hit a home near the Green Zone, which houses government buildings and foreign missions.
There has been a heightened anti-US sentiment in Iraq since the US terrorist forces targeted the convoy of Lt. Gen. QassemSoleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the deputy head of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) on January 3.
Two days later, Iraqi lawmakers unanimously approved a bill, demanding the withdrawal of all foreign military forces led by the United States from the country.
