Pars Today - The spokesperson for the Islamic Resistance Movement of Palestine (Hamas) stated that the release of a Zionist-American prisoner does not indicate Hamas' willingness to resume ceasefire negotiations.

On Friday, Hamas issued a statement announcing its agreement to release the dual American-Israeli citizen prisoner, Aidan Alexander, held in Gaza.

According to Pars Today, Hazem Qassem, the spokesperson for the Hamas movement, said on Saturday: "The release of Aidan Alexander, an Israeli-American military officer, has been a positive step." He emphasized: "This action does not mean that Hamas is willing to re-engage in negotiations regarding the ceasefire proposal."

According to Mehr News Agency, Qassem added: "We are not talking about new or side agreements but instead are committed to the full implementation of the ceasefire agreement at various stages." Referring to the stance of Benjamin Netanyahu, the prime minister of the Zionist regime, Qassem stated: "Netanyahu rejects any proposal that would lead to completing the ceasefire process because he fears the collapse of his coalition government."

Latest details of the ceasefire proposal and Hamas’ response

Now, it remains to be seen what key points were considered on the first day of implementing the agreement:

According to IRNA, Hamas is required to release five Israeli prisoners, including Aidan Alexander, who holds American citizenship.

In return, Israel will commit to releasing several Palestinian prisoners. Indirect negotiations between the two sides will continue for 50 days after the prisoner exchange to discuss a permanent ceasefire and a broader prisoner swap.

Hamas has proposed handing over only Aidan Alexander and four Israeli bodies, conditional upon the guaranteed and explicit release of Palestinian prisoners. Hamas has also called for the immediate start of negotiations on a permanent ceasefire alongside the prisoner exchange, reopening border crossings, and delivering humanitarian aid before handing over the Israeli captives.

On the other hand, Tel Aviv has requested the release of 11 living prisoners, including Aidan Alexander, and the return of 16 bodies. In Israel's proposal, the release of 120 Palestinian prisoners sentenced to life imprisonment, 1,110 other prisoners from the Gaza Strip, and the return of 160 Palestinian bodies have been mentioned.

Israel has sought to shorten the indirect negotiation period from 50 days to 40 days after the release of prisoners and has insisted that a permanent ceasefire must be conditioned on receiving information about other Israeli captives. Unlike Hamas' proposal, Israel did not mention withdrawing from the Gaza Strip in its response and has demanded mechanisms to ensure humanitarian aid is delivered exclusively to civilians.

Netanyahu's circle efforts to sabotage US-Hamas talks

In further developments regarding the ceasefire negotiations, the Zionist newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth revealed, citing US officials, that Ron Dermer, a minister close to Benjamin Netanyahu, is leading a covert campaign to derail negotiations between the US government and the Hamas movement

Some American sources disclosed that Adam Boehler, the US negotiator, had directly engaged in talks with Hamas. However, Netanyahu’s circle orchestrated a media campaign and exposed the secret negotiations, leading to Boehler's removal from his position.
