US spy plane hit over Syria’s Dayr al-Zawr province
Syrian government forces say they have targeted a US air force reconnaissance drone over the war-torn country’s eastern regions.
The spy craft was hit on Sunday in the country’s eastern province of Dayr al-Zawr, where a US-led coalition attack killed dozens of Syrian soldiers a day earlier.
Syrian troops also managed to wrest control over most of ISIL positions on the mountainous Jabal Therdeh area on Sunday after the US airstrikes near Dayr al-Zawr airbase gave the extremists the chance to overrun the areas.
There are reports that Syrian and Russian fighter jets have struck the area around Dayr al-Zawr air base, militant-held areas as well as the road linking the embattled eastern Syrian city to the town of Mayadin, which lies 45 km to the southeast.
