Saudi jet fighters bombard Yemen, leaving more civilian casualties
Saudi military aircraft have claimed the lives of at least six people in attacks against al-Jawf Province in northwestern Yemen.
The Sunday raids also injured a number of people in the province’s al-Maton District, Yemen’s al-Masirah television network reported.
Saudi fighter planes also bombed the Haydan district in the neighboring province of Sa’ada as well as the port city of Mokha in the southwestern province of Taiz.
On Sunday, in a retaliatory attack, the Yemeni army staged counteroffensive in Jawf, killing 30 Saudi mercenaries.
The fatalities from the operation, according to al-Masirah, included Ayez Aqlan, a militant commander. Army troops also took eight of the pro-Hadi militants hostage.
Yemen’s Ansarullah movement, which has been fighting for the country alongside the army, meanwhile, targeted a Saudi serviceman stationed in the Najran region in southwestern Saudi Arabia.
The condition of the Saudi trooper is yet to be confirmed.
