International conscience foiled US scheme to condemn Hamas movement, Haniyeh says
Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh says the international conscience thwarted the United States-sponsored resolution to condemn the Palestinian resistance movement at the United Nations General Assembly.
Haniyeh, in a statement released on Friday, said the majority of world countries stood with Palestinian rights, including the right of our people to resist the Tel Aviv regime’s occupation and salvation from it, against a resolution that sought to denounce the legitimate resistance of the Palestinian nation.
He then extended his gratitude to all countries that have taken a principled stance against the Israeli regime’s occupation and its aggressive policies, and rejected Washington’s narrative and its biased support for Tel Aviv.
The Hamas leader further noted that the vote against the US-drafted resolution is a tremendous achievement for the Palestinian people and all brotherly countries.
Haniyeh also appreciated the efforts put in by the Palestinian Authority through its ambassador to the United Nations Riyad Mansour, pointing out that the rejection of the US-drafted resolution strongly indicated that national concern is capable of uniting the Palestinian nation in facing of ongoing challenges.
Moreover, Spokesman for the Palestinian Islamic Jihad resistance movement, Daoud Shihab, said the failure of the American resolution at the United Nations represents a slap to the US administration of President Donald Trump as well as the Zionist regime.
Shihab, in a post published on his official Twitter page, noted that Israel and the US continue to spread lies by means of international bodies and meetings.
He thanked Kuwait, the Islamic Republic of Iran and all countries that rejected the resolution, saying, “Shame on all those who tend to please Israel.”
Shihab concluded that all those states that voted in favor of the resolution will eventually be ashamed of their hypocrisy, fear and denial of truth.
