Instagram shows 13-year-old teenagers sexual videos / Challenges of capitalist system

Pars Today - According to separate investigations by the Wall Street Journal and Laura Edelson, a professor at Northeastern University in the United States, Instagram recommends Reels with sexual content to teenagers, even those as young as 13 years old.

Based on the investigations by the WSJ and Edelson, which were conducted from January to April of this year, Instagram displays sexual Reels to new user accounts with a registered age of 13 years old in less than 3 minutes. According to Pars Today, after 20 minutes of watching this content, the "Recommended Reels" section is filled with creators of sexual content.

The WSJ and Edelson also conducted the same research on TikTok and Snapchat and found that none of these platforms recommend sexual content to teenage user accounts.

The WSJ also claims, based on undisclosed documents, that employees of the American company Meta, which owns Instagram, had previously observed similar problems. These documents are related to internal research on the harmful experiences of teenage users on Instagram. Meta's safety team had also conducted the same test and reached similar results.

However, Andy Stone, a spokesperson for Meta, said: "This is an artificial test that does not reflect the reality of how teenagers use Instagram."
