Is the American dream dead?
Pars Today – The UK’s Independent newspaper published the results of a University of Chicago survey on Americans’ optimism about improving their lives in the country.
The UK’s Independent recently published results from a University of Chicago survey, which found that 81% of Americans believe previous generations found it easier to buy a home. According to Pars Today, only 25% of respondents think they have a real chance to improve their standard of living in the United States.
This figure represents the lowest level recorded in surveys conducted since 1987.
According to the survey, 70% of Americans believe the “American Dream” — the idea that anyone, regardless of who they are or where they come from, can achieve their goals through hard work — is no longer true or never has been. This is the highest level of skepticism recorded since the question was first asked.
The U.S. President Donald Trump recently claimed that the U.S. has “the hottest economy on Earth” and low global-standard inflation and unemployment rates. However, only 17% of respondents in the survey said that the U.S. economy is stronger than other countries. About 40% believe that there are economies in the world that are better than America’s, indicating a decline in the spirit of American exceptionalism.
