Pars Today – Donald Trump’s insult toward Pope Leo XIV, the leader of the world’s Catholics, has drawn a reaction from Iran’s president.

According to Pars Today, Masoud Pezeshkian, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, wrote in a post on his X account in response to Trump’s insult to the Pope:

“Your Excellency Pope Louis XIV, on behalf of the great nation of Iran, I condemn the insult directed at you and declare that disrespect toward Jesus (peace be upon him), the Prophet of peace and brotherhood, is unacceptable to any free‑spirited human being. I wish you dignity and honor from God.”

The report states that the U.S. president, in a post on his social media platform, reacted to the Pope’s opposition to the attack against Iran. Using insulting language, he claimed that Pope Leo is weak in the face of crime and operates disastrously in foreign policy.

Pope Leo XIV, in what was described as his strongest stance against the war with Iran, had previously said that the “illusion of absolute power” was fueling the joint U.S.-Israeli war against Iran and called for the establishment of peace.

Pope Leo XIV said: “Enough with selfishness and worship of money! Enough with shows of force! Enough with war!”
