U.S. Senate opposes limiting Trump’s war powers against Cuba
Pars Today – U.S. senators rejected a bill that would require congressional authorization for any military action against Cuba, with 51 votes against and 47 in favor.
According to Pars Today, citing IRNA, U.S. senators early Wednesday voted 51–47 against a war‑powers resolution related to U.S. President Donald Trump. The resolution, introduced by Democratic Senator Tim Kaine, was intended to prevent unauthorized military action in Cuba.
Donald Trump has repeatedly said that after the military attack against Iran, Cuba would be the “next destination.”
Before the vote, Kaine said on the Senate floor that Trump’s war against Iran had been “a disaster.” He emphasized: “Now he wants a new war with Cuba. My colleagues and I firmly say there will be no new and unnecessary war.”
The U.S. Senate is controlled by Republicans who support Donald Trump. So far, five attempts by Democrats—who seek to halt the war against Iran—to limit Trump’s war powers have been unsuccessful.
Republicans, despite saying they want a quick end to the war, have shown little inclination to criticize Trump regarding the U.S. and Israeli military action against Iran.
