Pars Today – An emergency session of the United Nations Security Council on the Israeli regime’s attacks against Lebanon drew reactions from various countries, which called for an immediate halt to the strikes and the withdrawal of the regime from Lebanese territory.
According to Pars Today, citing IRNA, Ahmad Arafa, Lebanon’s representative to the United Nations Security Council, stated that the Israeli regime, through widespread destruction of infrastructure and residential homes in southern Lebanon, has caused extensive suffering, fear, and harm to Lebanese civilians.
The Lebanese representative warned that impunity encourages violators of international law to repeat their crimes. He added that Israel’s true objectives can be seen in statements by its officials, who insist on expanding the scope of military operations and occupying additional parts of Lebanese territory.
Also, China’s ambassador and permanent representative to the United Nations, Fu Cong, expressed concern over escalating tensions, stating that the international community must take urgent and effective measures before the situation in Lebanon worsens further.
The Chinese representative to the United Nations Security Council emphasized the need to respect Lebanon’s sovereignty and called for the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from southern Lebanon. He added that Beijing is ready to cooperate with all parties to help de-escalate tensions, restore peace, and strengthen regional stability.
Russia’s ambassador to the United Nations, Vassily Nebenzia, stated during the Security Council session that the deterioration of the situation in Lebanon is a direct result of the “unjustified aggression by the United States and Israel against Iran.” He warned that a “Gaza scenario” is unfolding in Lebanon, adding that the ceasefire reached on April 17 between Lebanon and Israel—brokered by Washington—has unfortunately become “a cover for Israeli aggressive actions against Lebanon.”
France’s permanent representative to the Security Council, Jérôme Bonnafont, also stressed that nothing can justify the continuation and expansion of Israeli military operations in Lebanon, which have led to thousands of civilian casualties, widespread displacement, and deeper occupation of Lebanese territory.
