Belgian academics call for suspension of academic ties with Israel

Pars Today – Nearly 5,000 university professors, students, and staff members in Belgium have signed an open letter urging academic institutions to suspend all forms of cooperation with Israeli institutions.

According to Pars Today, citing IRIB News Agency, around 5,000 professors, students, and university employees in Belgium have called on universities and research institutions to halt all forms of collaboration with Israeli institutions.

Among the signatories are approximately 1,100 university professors who are demanding the immediate suspension of academic and research partnerships with Israeli universities. They also oppose the establishment of any new collaborations, arguing that such ties are incompatible with academic values and obligations under international law.

The signatories further called for increased support for Palestinian higher education institutions and academic programs.
