Report reveals FIFA President-Trump deal

Pars Today – The Times newspaper has revealed the huge financial gains that FIFA President Gianni Infantino could have received if a plan to sell World Cup commercial rights had gone ahead.

According to Pars Today, citing IRIB News, Infantino had claimed that he would not personally benefit from the plan. However, according to a report published by The Times on Sunday, the FIFA president would have received more than 30 million euros annually in salary, in addition to financial bonuses, if the proposal had been implemented.

European media outlets described the revelation of Infantino’s potential share in the plan, which involved selling World Cup rights to a company linked to Donald Trump, as an alleged abuse of power and an attempt to profit from his position.

The report said Infantino had planned to sell the commercial rights of the World Cup to a company belonging to Trump’s son-in-law’s brother for $20 billion, a move that faced strong opposition from UEFA, Asian Football Confederation, and CONCACAF, forcing him to withdraw and cancel the proposal.

The report added that the proposal, which it described as politically motivated and self-serving, had led to opposition from a large number of FIFA members and triggered calls within the organization for Infantino’s resignation or removal.

The Times revealed that under the proposed FIFA Forward Enterprise plan, Infantino would have received more than 30 million euros in annual compensation plus bonuses—far exceeding his normal salary as FIFA president.

Infantino’s current annual salary is estimated at around 3 million euros, meaning the income he could have gained from the World Cup rights proposal would have been roughly ten times his current earnings.
