Leader calls on Muslim students in West to promote Islam

Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, recently called on Muslim students in Europe, the Americas and other parts of the western world to promote Islam.

He meant that practical demonstration of the high humanitarian values of God’s Last, Final and Universal Code for the salvation of human societies, will indeed have positive impacts on the people in the West and open up their minds to facts and realities, at a time when the main stream western media is mischievously trying to depict the Salafis, Wahhabis, and Takkfiri terrorists, who do not hesitate to commit any abominable crime against humanity, as puritanical Muslim. Let us review the latest remarks of the Leader in view of his earlier two messages to the youth and intellectuals in the West to open up their minds to Islam.

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution has urged Muslim students in Europe to make an impact on their surroundings and promote Islam. He said: “You have no excuses. What is expected from you, dear ones, is something more than scientific, religious, and ethical self-improvement.”

In his last Friday’s message to the 51^st annual meeting of Islamic Associations of students in Europe, he said: “It is expected that you make an impact on your surroundings and attract more followers to the path of God through words and deeds.”

Ayatollah Khamenei added: This is the duty of all Muslims in the “asymmetric war” of the arrogant powers against the raised flag of pure Islam.”

He stated that being young and a university student can each educated person like a powerful driving force help mankind in reaching lofty goals. He pointed out that that apart from these two, Muslim students in Europe also enjoy the advantage of being part of influential Islamic associations.

The Leader emphasized that all Muslims should each be a prolific fountainhead of correct Islamic knowledge and right divine path. He ended his brief message by wishing a lively, hopeful and bright life for the students.

From the message of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, it is clear that lack of spirituality and divine values is behind the rifts, shortcomings and frailties of the Western civilization despite its materialistic advances. In such a situation, the importance of commitment to religious values and the ideals of the Islamic Revolution, alongside scientific efforts, should be promoted, especially in view of the fact that the label of terrorism has been deliberately attached to Islam by the Zionist-controlled western media, in a bid to tarnish the visage of Islam and Muslim.

Scientific progress by itself will fail to bring prosperity to a community of students or their country on their return, but scientific advances must be accompanied by supreme spiritual values in order to prepare the ground for proper management of community affairs so that Muslims turn it into a model of emulation for the region in which Muslims live, and the world at large. Ayatollah Khamenei meant to convey the message to Muslim students abroad that they ought to be aware in their environment of the moral, intellectual and practical deviations, the collapse of the family institution, and the increase in violence and moral corruption.

Studies carried out in the West show the dearth of spirituality and divine values. This is more common in the student community, which means that Muslim students abroad, by preserving and practicing the dynamism of Islam, ought to raise the necessary awareness in the societies that they are living.

It is worth noting that even western scholars and intellectuals have begun to admit that immoral acts are widespread in their countries, and the student community is no exception in this regard. This means serious attention to religious and divine ideals are necessary for Muslims living in the West, especially the students from Muslim countries, and particularly from the Islamic Republic of Iran, since they can display their commitment to the values of the Islamic Revolution, and thus defeat the plots of the Zionists and Takfiris.

An example of immoral behavious and dearth of spiritual values is the increasing violence and deadly shootings in the United States that occur frequently. Even junior school students commit such inhuman acts and end up as killers, at times of their own siblings or parents. This is indeed a serious problem. This psychological problem can be solved, not just through prohibition on sale of firearms, but by imparting ethical values and religious education to children. Iranian Muslims studying in Europe, the US, and other places, can do a great service to humanity by sharing the peaceful message of Islam with fellow students, who in turn would be able to convey some important points to their parents.

From its very outset, Islam gave very much importance to knowledge and succeeded in rooting out Jahiliyya, not just from Arabia, but from all the lands under the rule of Muslims. Prophet Mohammad (blessings of God upon him and his progeny) clearly emphasized that for a Muslim knowledge and learning begins from the cradle and continues till death. As a result of this concept, Muslim mastered and spread the sciences of Algebra, trigonometry, Chemistry, medicine and technology, which Europe gradually acquired.

Therefore, in view of these undeniable facts, the multi-facet approach of Muslim students by practically displaying the harmonious blend of science with spiritual values, will definitely create the ground for promotion of the truth of Islam in Europe and similar societies.

This is what we learn from the recent message of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei to the 51^st annual session of the Islamic Association of Students in Europe.
