Islamic Iran, anti-arrogance stance and support for Islamic Resistance
Among the objectives of the Islamic Revolution is resistance against arrogant powers and their oppression.
Today on the 4th day of the Ten-Day Dawn, marking the memorable victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, under the guidance of that Sage of the Age, the Late Imam Khomeini (God bless his soul).
Among the objectives of the Islamic Revolution is resistance against arrogant powers and their oppression. The campaign against arrogance stems from Islam’s opposition to any type of oppression against others or yielding to oppression. In other words, on the one hand, Islam opposes oppression against others and on the other hand, it advises people not to yield to oppression and fight it.
When Islam opposes any kind of oppression against others, it definitely condemns arrogance, because arrogance means oppression and denial of rights. The Holy Qur’an frequently refers to arrogance as the cardinal sin, and points out that the first arrogant was Satan who disobeyed God and refused to prostrate to the Father of Mankind, Adam. The holy Qur’an has also called Korah the super-rich Israelite, the Pharaoh of Egypt and Hamaan as well as the rebellious nations of the past as arrogant. God Almighty has repeatedly denounced the arrogant. For instance, ayah 146 of Surah A’raf, says:
“Soon I shall turn away from My signs those who are unduly arrogant in the earth: [even] though they should see every sign, they will not believe in it, and if they see the way of rectitude they will not take it as [their] way, and if they see the way of error they will take it as [their] way. That is because they deny Our signs and are oblivious to them.”
In several ayahs, the arrogant have been warned of the painful punishment of hell. In view of these facts, the Islamic Revolution considers its duty to confront the oppressors and arrogant, who in turn, as part of their evil nature, intensely hate the Islamic Revolution.
Article 154 of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s constitution, stating that prosperity, independence, freedom and the rule of justice are among the rights of all people, says: Islamic Republic of Iran while refraining from any intervention in the internal affairs of other nations, supports the righteous campaign of the oppressed against the arrogant in any part of the world. Today, the most obvious example of arrogance is the US.
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, who is indeed the worthy successor of the Father of the Islamic Revolution, Imam Khomeini, has correctly analyzed the hostility of Global Arrogance against the Islamic Revolution, and the Islamic Republic of Iran, saying that the US is the most manifest example of oppression. He has pointed out that the enmity and plots against Iran and the Iranian people, started from the very day of the victory of the Islamic Revolution. The archenemies were, and still are, the US and the illegal Zionist entity, since both had been deprived of their vested interests in the region with the fall of their most subservient ally, the British-installed Pahlavi regime. The Islamic Revolution of Iran, with its stand against domestic despotism and foreign hegemony, presented the greatest challenge to the domineering powers. No wonder, the Ideals of the Islamic Revolution instilled in not just the Iranian people, but the people of the region, the lofty values of Islam as a practical way of life in the modern era, such as social justice and of refusal to yield to the exploitative powers. This obviously disrupted the political equations of Global Arrogance. This was the reason that the US instead of waking up to the realities, adopted a completely hostile attitude to the Islamic Revolution and the Islamic Republic of Iran, along with its accomplices in Western Europe and the Third World, in the vain hope of overthrowing the popular religious system of government in Iran.
The US, finding Islamic Iran firm and steadfast despite its pressures and plots, resorted to both overt and covert hostilities, including the most unjust sanctions and the 8-year war that it imposed upon Iran in the 1980s through its agent, Saddam of the repressive Ba’th minority regime of Baghdad.
US meddling in Iran is not new. It actually started in 1953. In that year in August, the US launched a coup codenamed “Operation Ajax”, in complicity with Britain and with the help of turncoat Iranians, to overthrow the democratically elected government of Prime Minister Mohammad Mosaddeq and to restore the fugitive Mohammad Reza Pahlavi to the Peacock Throne. Then it held Iran and the Iranian people hostage to American interests for 26 long years till the triumph of the Islamic Revolution in 1979, although in 1963, its tentacles on Iran were shaken by the Khordad 15 Uprising of June 5, under the leadership of Imam Khomeini. No wonder, the farsighted Imam, used to refer to the US as the Great Satan. This was no emotional outburst by a religious scholar, but proved the sharp political acumen of a Man of God, who had correctly analyzed the US nature. The magnitude of Washington’s plots against Iran ever since 1979 including the abortive airborne attack that miraculously floundered in the desert of Tabas in April 1980, is proof of the satanic nature of the US.
Immediately after the triumph of the Islamic Revolution, the then US Secretary of State, Cyrus Vance, had expressed profound hostility saying the coming to power of an Islamic government is not just something unfriendly but a blow to American interests in West and Southwest Asia. US officials not just expressed irrational remarks but resorted to irrational policies by imposing a variety of economic sanctions upon the Islamic Republic, including the freezing of tens of billions of dollars of Iranian assets in American banks.
Martin Indyk, while serving as Assistant US Secretary of State for Middle East Affairs, had said that punishing the Islamic Revolution will serve as a lesson for countries that intend to achieve full independence by throwing off the yoke of US hegemony. Thus, as a form of punishment, the US imposed the 8-year war on the Islamic Republic through Saddam of the repressive Ba’th minority regime of Baghdad on the assumption that the country will be destroyed and the system of government will be overthrown. This did not happen because of the heroic resistance of the Iranian Muslim people, who were inspired by Imam Khomeini, and his policy of: “Neither East nor West, Islam is the Best.”
The graver the plots of the US, the stronger became the spirit of resistance of the Iranian Muslim people, and gradually the US lost hope in re-imposing its hegemony on Iran, although it has not given up its plots against the Iranian people.
As pointed out recently by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, the intensity and multiplicity of threats against Iran, actually shows the power of the Islamic system, and how it defeated these intricate conspiracies hatched by the US.
Today, 39 years after the victory of the Islamic Revolution, the grassroots movement of the Iranian Muslims continues its enlightening task of awakening the masses in the region and beyond. It has imparted to them the concept of self-dignity, thereby forcing Global Arrogance to realize that they cannot defeat even an unarmed nation and barehanded people that are fully determined to achieve their goals and unwilling to accept the hegemony of the domineering powers. The Islamic Republic has shown that progress can be achieved by a determined nation, with trust in God, and without relying on any big power. The Islamic Revolution and the Islamic Republic have demonstrated to the world the grand power and political capacities of Islam to change the destiny of nations by confronting the hegemony of the colonialists.
The famous American political analyst, Noam Chomsky, says the enmity and plots of the US and western regimes against Iran are because of the Islamic Republic’s refusal to yield to western hegemony. He believes that as long as Iran remains independent and does not bow to US hegemony, Washington will continue its enmity and hostility. This is proof of the fact that the Islamic Republic of Iran serves as the model of resistance against US hegemony to all world countries.
Inspired by Imam Khomeini and Ayatollah Khamenei, the oppressed nations, of Palestine, Lebanon, Iraq, Yemen, Bahrain and several other countries, have formed the Islamic Resistance and embarked on confronting the US and its evil brat, the illegal Zionist entity.
In Palestine, groups such as Hamas and Islamic Jihad of Palestine consider resistance against Israel and campaign to weed it out as the only way of liberation of their homeland. As a matter of fact, mobilization of world Muslims for liberation of the Islamic city of Bayt al-Moqaddas is among the goals of the Islamic Revolution, and that is the reason, Iran is the firm supporter of the Palestinian resistance. The leader of Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh, recently wrote a letter to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Khamenei, appreciating the unsparing support of the Islamic Republic of Iran for the Palestinians.
Lebanon’s legendry anti-terrorist movement, the Hezbollah, as the most evident example of resistance against oppression and global arrogance, has become a nightmare for the Zionist entity and its godfather, the US. Inspired by the Islamic Revolution, it succeeded in driving out the Israeli occupiers from almost all of southern Lebanon by the year 2000. In 2006, when the Zionist entity launched the 33-day war, Hezbollah displayed its military prowess by defeating Israel, a heroic feat no Arab country or Arab army has ever achieved. Hezbollah which enjoys the moral and material support of the Islamic Republic of Iran, has become a role model for the other oppressed nations, especially after its grand victories in Syria in weeding out the US and Saudi-backed Takfiri terrorists.
The Islamic Resistance Front includes Iraqi people and popular mobilization units inspired by the Islamic Revolution. Its roots could be traced to the great scholar, Ayatollah Seyyed Mohammad Baqer as-Sadr and his equally enlightened sister, Bint al-Hoda, who were both cruelly martyred by the tyrant Saddam. Nonetheless, the awakened Iraqi Muslims joined forces with their brethren in Iran to fight the US-supported repressive Ba’th minority regime. And now, inspired by Islamic Iran, the Muslims of Iraq have formed Hashd ash-Sha’bi or Popular Mobilization Forces, which last year decisively defeated the Takfiri terrorists, and have warned the US occupiers to leave Iraq.
Islamic Resistance Forces are also active in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and Yemen, where the Islamic Revolution of Iran has inspired the long oppressed people to rise up for materialization of their denied rights. For almost the past three years, the Saudi regime has been unable to dent the indomitable spirit of the popular Ansarallah Movement of Yemen despite launching a destructive war. God promises those who rely on Him against the oppressors and the arrogant as is evident in ayah 30 of Surah Fussilat:
“Indeed those who say, ‘Our Lord is Allah!’ and then remain steadfast, the angels descend upon them, [saying,] ‘Do not fear, nor be grieved! Receive the good news of the paradise which you have been promised.”
