Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, in his capacity as Commander-in-Chief of all Armed Forces, on Saturday June 30 in Tehran reviewed the military parade at the annual graduation ceremony of cadets of Imam Hussain (AS) University.

In his speech he lauded the spectacular progress of the Islamic Republic of Iran in all fields, saying the revolution is lasting and promising, and all that we require to foil the plots of the enemies, are piety, prudence, patience, and steadfast perseverance.

On entering the university premises the Leader of the Islamic Revolution paid his respects at the tombs of the unknown martyrs and prayed for the souls of the departed combatants of the Holy Defence of the 1980s during the 8-year war imposed by the US through Saddam of Baghdad’s repressive Ba’th minority regime.

He also commended the disabled combatants present at the campus, and talked with some of the honorable families of the martyrs.

Ayatollah Khamenei pointed to the plots of the enemies to create a rift between the Islamic Establishment and the people, and called upon everyone, particularly the authorities, to adopt vigilance, steadfastness, prudence and national solidarity, as well as refrainment from arrogant and aristocratic attitudes, in order to defeat the conspiracies. He stressed, “If national might is strengthened and no weakness and capitulation is shown toward the enemy, the ill-wishers will once again fail to achieve their sinister objectives.”

He took note of ayahs of the Holy Qur’an and said the prerequisite to the foiling of enemy plots is patience and piety, adding: “The Islamic Revolution has deep roots and a promising future, and thus achieving its lofty aspirations requires patience and steadfastness.”

Ayatollah Khamenei said: “Piety means taking care of oneself against the enemy and the requirement for this protection is vigilance against enemy machinations, and this calls for prudence; neither trusting the enemy nor showing the least negligence and laxity.”

He stressed, “If all of the people, including youths and political, economic, security and military officials, adopt such prudence, patience and piety, by the grace of God, there will be no blow or harm.”

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution recalled the subservience of Iran to Britain and later to the US throughout the 54 years of the rule of the upstart Pahlavi regime, noting “With the triumph of the Islamic Revolution, the shackles and chains were removed from the hands and feet of the people and the real taste of independence and freedom was savored.”

He said “national self-confidence” and “people’s involvement in all affairs of the country” are other proofs of the might of the Islamic Republic Establishment. “This national self-confidence”, he said: “was accompanied by faith; a faith that like the soul in the body of the mass movement of the country, brought about the grounds for the reinvigoration, hope, sacrifice and selflessness of the Iranian society, of which examples were replete during the Holy Defence.”

Ayatollah Khamenei said the motive for action and practical steps is another fruit of faith and national self-confidence, adding: “The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), Construction Jihad, Basij (Volunteer Forces) and several public movements were formed in the country on the basis of this spirit. The courage of the Armed Forces was also evident in the public service and the scientific achievements of the country.”

He said true power is based on independence and freedom, pointing out that “Might does not mean paying foreigners, purchasing from them weapons, and stockpiling them without being able to use them. The setting up of military bases in a country by foreigners who freely suck the blood of nation to protect the rule of a family, are cases of stupidity and disgrace, and certainly not power.”

Ayatollah Khamenei called the IRGC one the elements of people’s power which must improve daily in terms of quality.

He said: “The biggest proof of the might of the Iranian nation is that one of the most bloodthirsty and ruthless powers of the world, namely the US, has spared no efforts and villainy over the past 40 years to try to undermine Iran, but has failed to do a damn thing, while the Iranian nation has grown in power and stature.”

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution stressed that besides the foreign enemy, domestic foes have been busy hatching plots against the Iranian people, such as the so-called Liberal movement that had pinned its hopes on the US and West, the communists which are now no more and the traitors (the MKO) led by characterless persons that stooped to the bloodthirsty Saddam and are now busy serving the interests of the regimes in France, the UK and the US.

He said another proof of the might and power of the Iranian nation is the formation of reactionary coalitions in the region by the US, which is further proof of the inability of the enemy to succeed in its nefarious designs against Iran.

The enemy’s current tactics is to try to create rifts between the Islamic Republic Establishment and certain sectors of the society, and this scheme shows the ignorance of the enemy which has failed understand that the Islamic Republic Establishment is based on the power of the people, and there is no difference between them.

Pointing to the failures of the efforts of previous US presidents in countering the Islamic Republic, Ayatollah Khamenei said: “The objective of the current regime in the White House is to increase economic pressures in a bid to stretch thin the people’s patience, but by the Grace of God, it will miserable fail, and our enemy-conquering nation will emerge victorious.”

Ayatollah Khamenei, addressing the youth, said, “The enemy is against your independence, honor, progress and presence in the realm of science and diplomacy and the advancement of the country.”

He cautioned against the naivety of some to surrender to the enemy, saying: “The price of capitulation is much higher than resistance and steadfastness, while the benefits and achievements of resistance are hundreds of times more that the cost of submission.”

He added: “Yielding to the belligerent and obstinate enemy will result in nothing but being trampled upon more brutally with total loss of identity.”

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution pointed to an inviolable divine law, saying, “If you do not grow weak or reconcile with the enemy, God Almighty will fully reward your patience and diligence.”

He called on the Iranian nation and all officials to adopt vigilance and takes stock of their own actions, saying: “The officials must take care to avoid negligence, sluggishness, opulence, disdain for the people and dependence on the ephemeral seat of authority.”

He stressed, “The day when the Iranian nation acquires such a status is not far away and the youth will certainly witness that day when the enemies dare not launch any military, economic, security and political aggression on Iran.”

Before the Leader’s speech, IRGC Commander Major General Mohammad Ali Ja’fari pointed to the confrontation between the camp of the downtrodden and the hegemonic order, saying, “The revolutionary Iranian nation is on the verge of a key historic experience which will result in the shaping of a new era of might and confidence to shatter the hegemony of the US.”

He added, “The faithful and revolutionary IRGC youths are fully prepared to counter any enemy plot and everyone can predict the fall of the seemingly powerful empires, thanks to the resolve of these proud personnel.”
