Opposition to the expansion of NATO, which harbors some wishes of establishing a presence in the Central Asia region, and also the imminent danger of Daesh’s revival in Afghanistan, something which would threaten Iran and Russia’s borders, are among the areas of commonality between Moscow and Tehran these days that can pave the way for new areas of cooperation.
