Today, we study the rate of poverty in the US, and compare it with the 2016 US presidential election campaigns costs.

Poverty in the US cannot be denied by the US administration. Among the industrial countries, the US maintains the highest rate of poverty. Based on facts and figures, the rate of surging poverty is twice the rate of population growth in the US; which hits children the hardest.

One out of every four children in the US suffers from poverty. Half of the families who have children are considered poor. Meanwhile children of color are among the most disadvantaged children in the US.

For instance, the rate of poverty among African-American children stands at 35%, while the rate of poverty among white American children only totals 11%. Under these conditions, the two US presidential hopefuls have spent $1.632 billion for their election campaigns within the recent year.
