US State Department makes baseless claims against Iran (7)

The Western regimes take advantage of the UN Human Rights Council, under the cover of concerns over the violation of human rights in the world, as a pretext for advancement of their political goals and further domination of other countries. However, upon a glance at the state of human rights in these Western countries, it becomes crystal clear that the US and other Western regimes which claim to champion human rights are ironically the main violators of human rights.

In accordance to a body of research and documented reports, the US, who claims to advance the goals of UN, and to comply with human rights, is yet to join the most important human rights conventions, and has refused to join a number of human rights accords via making a number of lame excuses.

In fact, recent studies have revealed that many of the policies and acts of the US administration are in violation of international rules and regulations

Meanwhile, the US State Department releases an annual report, studying the state of human rights in different countries, while ironically the cases of murder, crime, rape, and violation of the civil rights of minorities are mounting in the US in an alarming rate.

According to the declaration of the Human Rights Council, the US is yet to join the regional human rights bodies. The US has not joined and does not approve of a number of conventions against torture, and/or violation of legal, civil, political, and international rights. This comes while the US regime claims to champion human right more than any other state in the world.

Outcomes of legal studies have uncovered the systematic refusal of the US administration to fulfill its international commitments in regard to compliance with human rights. There is no independent organization in the US which would monitor whether the US regime abides by human rights or not.

Several reports, released by the international independent organizations, show that the US regime, in contrast to existing claims, violates human rights and civil freedoms. For instance, Journalists without Borders, has pointed out that the US held the 46th spot in the global ranking on freedom of expression, in the year 2014, marking a sharp drop in the US global ranking in this domain, compared to the year 2013.

 Another report released by Journalists without Borders in 2014 has uncovered the eavesdropping of US Justice Department on the phone calls of AP reporters.

The third article of the UN Charter has recognized the right to personal freedom and security. The same rights have been emphasized by the 12th article of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This comes while the US administration has openly monitored the phone calls of its citizens and the citizens of other countries, such as Germany.

The Twitter Social Network, which is the second recognized social network in the world and was launched into operation in the year 2006, sued the US government in this regard, a while ago.

This company accused the US administration of lack of transparency in supervision over the activities of Twitter’s users, in addition to breach of freedom of expression.

This complaint which was filed at a court in North California on October 7, 2014, sued the US Justice Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

The US government has been disgraced while the international organizations have time and again disclosed the lack of personal security for Cyberspace users, such as the users of online social networks, including Facebook, and Twitter, charging the US security and espionage services of the theft of personal information of related users.

The American Civil Liberties Union, which is an independent, non-profit establishment, aiming to defend the personal rights and freedoms of American citizens, filed a lawsuit against the US National Security Agency in January 2013, disclosing that this US agency, upon the order of US president, Barack Obama, has monitored roughly five billion phone calls, including the phone calls of American citizens, and has gathered hundreds of millions of personal email addresses, while also collecting the data of Google and Yahoo users in the data centers of those companies, overseas.

The American Civil Liberties Union filed another lawsuit with a court in New York in the year 2013, demanding an end to the espionage operations of the US National Security Agency, naming these operations unconstitutional.

The American whistleblower and former contractor to US National Security Agency, Edward Snowden, in his revelations, pointed out that the US National Security Agency has gathered and monitored all of the registered phone calls of American citizens.

Furthermore, the UN especial rapporteur, Manfred Nowak, has pointed out that the US government is engaged in the systematic violation of human rights, while expressing concerns over the widespread violation of human rights in the US, including the torture of inmates, police brutality, racial discrimination, and violation of rights of minorities, especially Muslims.

Based on the existing evidences, Muslims are denied freedom of expression in the US and cannot observe their religious ceremonies and rituals.
